WelcomeTalamh Housing Co-op is based in a seventeenth century house at Birkhill House near Coalburn, South Lanarkshire. There are 11 members of the Co-op not including children, as well as dogs, cats and chickens. There'll often be guests staying too. We are a shared house with members renting their own space from the Housing Co-op. We are an intentional community because the members have chosen to live near each other for reasons of friendship and shared ideals. At least one meal a day is eaten together. The Housing Co-op is in turn managed by its members who make decisions by consensus at weekly meetings. It can often seem pretty chaotic here, but every member takes a part in the running of the co-op. As well as the day to day housework, members also put a lot of time into community and environmental work. To help promote this work, a charity was set up in 1998 called Talamh Life Centre. We are not currently looking for new members, but places will become available in the future. If you may be interested then please contact us to arrange a visit.
| Come to the Tree Weekend at Talamh 23 - 25 November 2007 Talamh (pronounced 'talav') is a gaelic word meaning the earth or soil.
