Birkhill Estate

Surrounding the house is almost fifty acres of land, a small fragment of the large estate that once existed. The property was originally called Fauldhouse Farm, probably because a deep cut by a burn to the south east provides a natural animal pen.

Neighbouring Cairnhouses testify that ancient stones used to stand locally. The route of a now disused railway line borders Talamh at Lintfieldbank, built for the many coal mining pits and communities that were so common in this area. Now it is open cast mining that neighbours Talamh, and a motorway replacing the railways.
